My first day of back country skiing was today up on Hoosier Pass.  For the last two days we have had a winter storm rolling through the high country of Colorado that left a few feet of fresh snow on the peaks.  It was bitter cold at about 5 degrees and the wind was blowing but it was well worth the hike up for a few excellent turns down.

Aimee's trip to South Africa

As you may know, one of our staff members, Aimee Pinnell is going to South Africa to help out at an orphanage.  We are very proud of her and she will be missed but we know that she is going to have an adventure of a life time!!! She is going to keep us updated when she can on our blog so stay tuned for her updates!!!

AAW Exhibiting at THE TRADE SHOW

Hello everyone,

We hope all is well and that your Summer had been going great.  Fall is around the corner and it is getting colder in Breckenridge already.  The snow will be  falling soon!  Mike and I are headed to Orlando, FL for the 2008 ASTA Retailing and Destination Expo from Sept 7th to 9th at the Orange County Convention Center. WE are exhibiting and will have a booth at the event.  We are looking forward to meeting our current Agents and making new ones to promote Adventures Around the World.  We will keep you posted on the event and our time in Florida.

AAW Sponsors Adventure Race in Colorado

Whats up everyone?  We hope your summer is going awesome and that you are getting outside and being as active as you can.  AAW is having a fantastic summer and is busy designing trips, having fun and being outdoors.  This weekend AAW sponsored a team in the Adventure Xstream Series in Summit County, Colorado.  A team of 4 consisting of 2 women (Michelle and Mary Jane) and 2 men (Mark and Adam) participated in the sprint category that consisted of running, sea kayaking, mountain biking and treking and orientering.  The team had been training hard and finished in a time of 4 hours 45 minutes. They did a great job and had heaps of fun.  Mike and Kevin were at the race for support and had a great time sponsoring this event and our Adventure Team.  Check out some of the pictures on the left of the Adventure Race.

2008 East Coast Marketing Trip

Hello all,

So after 30 days on the West Coast, Mike and Kevin spent 10 days in Breckenridge before heading out to the East Coast for a Marketing Trip. We had meetings with Travel Agents in Portland, ME, Boston, MA, New York City, Washington D.C., and Raleigh, NC.  Thanks to all of our agents who we met on this trip and for their continued support.

A big thanks goes out to all of our friends that we saw and stayed with along our trip, Mom and Dad in Vermont, Eric and Cathy in Boston, Allysa and Zelda in New York City, Vivienne and Jordan in Washinton D.C. and Jessica and Wayne in Raleigh, NC.   Your hospitality was much appreciated!!

Our trip was a complete success and AAW was interviewed by CBS news in DC along the way about Adventure Travel! 

We are currently in Breckenridge and getting ready for a huge Winter Season!!!

West Coast Marketing Trip

Hello all,

Well Mike and I just got back from a very successful Marketing Trip on the West Coast.  We had meetings with Travel Agents in Eugene, OR, Portland,OR, Seattle and Spokane,WA, Berkeley, CA, Santa Cruz,CA, Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, CA and Orange County, CA.  Thanks to all of our agents who we met on this trip and for their continued support.

AAW continues to grow at an amazing pace and our staff, Alice, Allison, Aimme, Debbie, Dylan and Dave our a huge reason for our success!

We are currently in Breckenridge and getting ready to head out East for a Marketing Trip while our staff holds down the office!!

What a Season

Wow What a winter season! We got more snow in Breckenridge then we know what to do with.  You got to love having one of the sweetest powder days of the season on April 17th,    A foot of powder and blue skies, can't beat that.  Breckenridge had some great concerts this week and really ended the season on a high note.   I'm catching a few more runs on Sunday and thens its off on our Marketing Trip out West!! Should be a good time and great for the biz!

Winter in Breckenridge

Adventures Around the World has had a spectacular winter in Colorado so far.  As well as moving forward on many fronts with the business we have also had some excellent snow and good friends to share it with.  In the last month we have had trips to Nepal, Thailand (twice), Colorado and Belize.  All of our clients have enjoyed the variety of activities, lodging and first-class guides in each of these locations.  What a great way to spend your holidays exploring a new culture and being active while you do it.  On a more personal note, Kevin has not hurt himself snowboarding this year, partly due to his new rule that he is staying off the rails and boxes in the terrain park and partly because he is now ripping up the mountain as often as possible.  Mike just returned from the Ouray Ice Festival.  The festival features some of the best ice climbers in the world and the area truly is a great venue for this event because of the Ouray Ice Park.  He was also able to squeeze in  a day of skiing at Telluride.  If you like steep and deep trees, this is the place to be.  We hope everyone is living life to its fullest and making every day an adventure.  We'll be in touch and be sure to check out all our new photos and postings as we try to update this blog every week with our activities and trip updates.

Beaver Creek Powder Day

Well I finally got the chance to get on the slopes at Beaver Creek this weekend.  I was up in the area for 8 days straight over xmas and New Years. We had several families in Beaver Creek on custom ski trips and they all had a great time. This weekend I was upthere visting Molly, a friend from college, and finally got the chance to hit the Mountain. It was an awesome bluebird day and they had gotten over 45" of snow in the past 7 days so there was some good powder stashes. Myself and 4 of her friends skied and rode the mountain all day.  They did great and we all had a grand time.
